=Penang= Tang Yuan @ Cecil Street Market

Most of the Chinese will celebrate the Winter Solstice Festival tomorrow. Have you get ready your Tang Yuan (glutinous rice ball)?

Gibson bought 3 boxes of Tang Yuan from 3 different stalls in Cecil Street Market (Penang 7th Road) to share with colleagues, and we came to a conclusion that Ginger is must, without it the Tang Yuan is so plain, and the colouring is getting more and more scary nowadays.

While the others only sell at RM3.50 per box, this particular stall sell at RM4, but we believe that they extracted the colour from natural ingredients such as pea flower or Pandan leaf.

As you can see, the colour of the Tang Yuan is way too solid, but because cooked well with ginger and rock sugar, we love it tastes.

This one less Tang Yuan, less flavour and way too much of artificial colouring.
